Google Workspace Data Migration

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you migrate files from your personal Google Drive or computer to your new ESC Google Drive account:

Method 1: Migrate Files from Personal Google Drive to ESC Google Drive
 

Step 1: Access Your Personal Google Drive

  • Open Google Drive and log in to your personal Google account.
     

Step 2: Select Files to Transfer

  • Browse through your folders and select the files or folders you want to move. To select multiple files, hold down the Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) key and click on the files.
     

Step 3: Share Files with Your ESC Google Drive Account

  • Right-click on the selected files or folders.

  • Click Share.

  • In the "Share with people and groups" window, enter your ESC Google Drive email address.

  • Set the access permissions to either Editor (for full access) or Viewer (if you just want to view files).

  • Click Send.
     

Step 4: Copy Files to ESC Google Drive

  • Open your ESC Google Drive by logging into your ESC Google account.

  • Navigate to the Shared with Me section.

  • Locate the files or folders you shared from your personal account.

  • Right-click on the files and select Add to My Drive to store them in your ESC Google Drive.

Method 2: Migrate Files from Computer to ESC Google Drive

Step 1: Open ESC Google Drive

  • Open Google Drive and log in to your ESC Google account.
     

Step 2: Upload Files or Folders

  • Click on the New button in the upper left corner.

  • Choose File upload or Folder upload depending on what you want to transfer from your computer.

  • Select the files or folders from your computer and click Open.
     

Step 3: Organize Files in ESC Google Drive

  • Once the upload is complete, you can move the files into specific folders within your ESC Google Drive account to keep everything organized.
     

Additional Tips

  • Drag and Drop: You can also drag and drop files directly from your computer or another Google Drive window into your ESC Google Drive window.

  • Google Takeout: If you have a large number of files, consider using Google Takeout to export your personal Google Drive files, then upload them to your ESC Google Drive.
